Hi Ho from Banff. And let me tell you, it was not what I expected. Any of it. (well, maybe some of it -- but you'll see what I mean.)

First, the Banff Centre is wonderful. Rooms are spacious and more like hotel rooms than school dorms (which is what i was expecting), and the rest of the facilities are quite wonderful. It doesn't hurt that we are in the middle of the mountains, either. The only real problem has been the weather. not that it's been bad. Not really. It's just been a little on the dreary side. i wish the clouds would go away so I can see the sky. Yeah, whiner from the Prairies. "The mountains are blocking my view of the sky."

Second, the instructor is great. Laid back, funny, and he has information oozing from his very pores. And not just at the workshop, either. We all go to meals together, and that's when the real stuff seems to come out. The "how you really get published" stuff. I like it. However, I'm going to get fat, because ....

Third, the food is great. Buffet style, but good good good food. And the desserts! Oh God! The only probelm is they're set up right by the stairs, so you have to walk past them when you come in. Good Lord.

And last but not least, the rest of the participants. What a wonderful bunch of people. We've come from all over the place, but we are all here for the same reason (that good old like minded thing) so it was easy to bond. It doesn't hurt that the other participants all look at us and say things like "Oh, you're one of them, are you?" when we say we're in the "Science Fiction" workshop. A little prejudice goes a long way to bonding a group.

OK, I keep losing my connection to Blogger, so I'm going to sign off. I will be back. Having a wonderful time, wish you were here.
