It's Chapter 2!

Word count: 27, 212

Been a while. And I've been busy. Not as busy as my buddy Ryan (who is moving, good luck with that) but busy none the less. Have been doing some writing -- not as much as I want-- well, that's not the truth . I'm doing as much as I want, but not keeping up with my word count. Don't know what the deal is, past that it's hard to edit something that's not done yet -- but it needed to be edited, because it wasn't working the way I was writing it. I'm actually adding subplots from other hcaratcer's POV. Never done this before, and it's kind of freaking me out. Darn it all anyhow.

Had the new critiquing group over to my house last night. They had some good ideas for the beginning of the novella I'd given them last month -- but the best was for Chapter 2. I never liked that chapter. Used it to introduce some characters, but that was about the end of it -- and I was always playing with it. But they pointed out that thought there was plenty of tension in the first chapter, it died in the second (knew that, but ...) and one of the women suggested it was because the main character wasn't going for anything. That turned the lightbulb on. So I will rewrite chapter 2 and give him some stuff to worry about and think about. Just so he's really primed for chapter 3.

I think it will work. And yahoo for that. Because I want this thing out of my house. It's time -- way past time.

Started two books. Reading not writing. The first one is "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. Got about 70 pages in and stalled. Am also reading "The Cabinet of Curiosities" and am likiing it a lot more. Good rollicking story there.

Am leaving for Montreal for the Liberal leadership convention in a little over a week. Holy crap. This should be exciting, but for some reason I'm not excited at all. I guess it kind of feels like it's not really going to happen or something. I've never been involved politically -- not like this, at any rate -- so I don't quite know how to react. Been getting plenty of mail about the leadership race, though. That's kinda cool.

Anyhow, should get back to the words. I can hear them calling me.
